Miss Mary’s Christmas Mittens Ornament

You will need:

  • Paper plates – any size will work
  • A dark pencil or marker
  • A bottle of glue, clear or white will work
  • Glitter in sparkly colors
  • Scissors
  • A keypunch or something to make a hole
  • Ribbon, yarn or an ornament hook

 

Let’s Get Started!

  1. Draw or trace a mitten in the center of your paper plate. Click here for a mitten outline that you can trace & print!
  2. Outline your mitten with the glue. Then fill the inside of the mitten with glue so it is covered.
  3. Here’s the FUN part. Sprinkle glitter on your wet mitten until it is covered.  Use one color or many colors.  Be creative.
  4. Here’s the hard part. Let your mitten dry completely.  Be patient.
  5. When your mitten is completely dry, shake off the extra glitter onto another paper plate and save it for another time.
  6. Now cut out your mitten. Ask an adult for help if you need it.
  7. Next ask an adult to punch or cut a hole in the mitten’s cuff.
  8. Thread a ribbon or yarn or an ornament hook through the hole.

You did it! Now hang your glitter mitten ornament on your tree or in a window where everyone can admire it!
